Join us on Wednesday, September 11th for this in-person/drop-in program in the Artist’s Garden at Garfield Park Conservatory!

Description

In this demonstration, Sarah will show how the Prussian Blue pigment can be added to various paint binders for use in projects at-home. If you would like to see all paint mediums demonstrated, you’ll want to arrive on-time and stay for the entire hour; otherwise, you can stop by at any time!

Sarah Hanson has worked closely with artist Amanda Williams as she’s spent the last few years keenly focused on recreating a 1920s George Washington Carver patent for a Prussian Blue pigment. Working in cross-disciplinary collaboration with research scientists and chemistry students at the University of Chicago and Xavier University, Amanda and her team have successfully developed pigment for use in various forms of paint.

How to join:

This drop-in program is FREE for all visitors in the Conservatory starting at 6:00pm and going through 7:00pm. The Artist’s Garden is an outdoor garden, and in the case of inclement weather, the demo will be moved indoors to Horticulture Hall.

Seating will be available, but if you have any additional accommodation requests, please send an email to Bendi at bqian@garfieldpark.org.

Garfield Park Conservatory’s The Creative Mind of George Washington Carver exhibit runs July 3rd through September 22nd in the outdoor Artist’s Garden https://garfieldconservatory.org/event/the-creative-mind-of-george-washington-carver/2024-07-04/
