Goats on a Log at Garfield Park Conservatory

We’re happy to welcome our goat visitors back to Garfield Park Conservatory this summer! In addition to the amusement they bring, these goats will help us maintain our weed populations while grazing an enclosed area on the south side of our campus. The goats will visit one week a month, May through August, weather dependent. We hope you stop by to say ‘hi’ and see these goats in action!

Did you know? When William Le Baron Jenney designed Garfield Park (then called Central Park) in the 1870’s, he envisioned locations in the park where cattle, sheep, and goats could roam pastoral meadow. As far as we know, that never happened in Garfield Park but sheep used to graze Washington Park before the 1920’s!
