Plant Propagation: Indoor Tropical Plants

With a focus on plants from tropical geographic locations, techniques include cuttings, division, and layering methods that have proven successful with our collection. There will be a strong focus on hands-on demonstrations in addition to participants going home with at least one cutting.

Sebastian Ritte, Chicago Park District Floriculturist, will share his knowledge garnered from his work experience of maintaining the Aroid House collection, as well as the Palm House at Garfield Park Conservatory. He has worked at GPC for seven years in addition to seasonal employment with the Park District. Previously, he worked for Hearts Helping Hands as a trainer of trainers, teaching farmers on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, East Africa.
