About DuShaun:

DuShaun Branch Pollard’s yoga journey spans nearly 16 years. During this time, she discovered a profound sense of tranquility by harmonizing her mind and body through yoga.

As a yoga student, DuShaun noticed she was the only black and plus-sized person in most classes. This inspired her to become a practitioner and bring yoga to more people who looked like her. DuShaun is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) through the Yoga Alliance and was certified through Bloom Yoga Studio in June 2020. She practices and teaches Hatha yoga.

In addition, she received her 95-hour Children’s Yoga Certification from Mission Propelle in the summer of 2018. DuShaun previously worked in higher education, is a trained restorative justice circle keeper, and is currently a community organizer at CHANGE Illinois

DuShaun’s mission is to make yoga accessible to as many BIPOC and plus-sized communities as possible. She believes in the power of yoga to provide not just rest and relaxation but also resistance. DuShaun’s teaching approach is rooted in equity and trauma-informed practices, and she conducts classes in diverse settings across the city. She aims to dismantle barriers and offer yoga to those seeking peace and mental clarity. DuShaun teaches classes perfect for beginners, those with injuries, or those who want a slower pace in class.

Registration closes at 9:00am when the session begins.

Auto-generated closed captioning will be available.

This class is free, but we welcome donations to help offset programming costs.
