Cabbage Harvesting

October 5, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

View of Garfield Park Conservatory and Cabbage Patch from the sky

Come explore the Cabbage Patch exhibit and harvest your own cabbage to take home! Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance staff and volunteers will be out in the Cabbage Patch helping visitors harvest cabbages and they will be on hand to answer questions about the exhibit. Our Nature Education Teachers will have a fun family-friendly activity around cabbages as well.

Special Guest: The Chicago Architecture Center (link opens in new tab) will also provide a fun, family-friendly activity!

We’ve noticed the cabbages are slow growing, so there may be limited cabbages ready to harvest on this date. While the cabbage harvesting portion may not occur this entire time, we do have recipe books available for all patrons who come. Check our calendar for harvesting dates further into the season. This activity is planned to be outside in the Cabbage Patch. In case of inclement weather, we will move some aspects inside and we may not be able to harvest cabbage if it is storming.
