Lecture: Natural Pigments and Dyes with Katie Vota

Join us for a virtual discussion on natural dyes and pigments with artist, Katie Vota. Katie will touch on dying as a global historical practice, major dyes & regions, local and seasonal plants people can collect in Chicago and an overview of dye process.

Artist Bio: Katie Vota is a Chicago-based artist working to create interactive environments and objects that engage viewers in ideas of shaping identity. Vota received her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and a Studio MFA from the School of the Arts Institute of Chicago. She was awarded a US Student Fulbright Grant to study traditions of Andean Back-strap Weaving and Natural Dyeing in Cusco, Peru, with the Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco.
