Still Life in Real Life: Charles Ethan Porter hero image. The image includes 3 floral paintings and a black and white photograph of Porter.

We’re so happy to invite you to the 2021 Artist’s Garden exhibit featuring the incredible African American still life painter Charles Ethan Porter. The garden is filled with fruits and flowers that can be found in his still life paintings including strawberries, carnations, violets, sunflowers and much more. The living wall is an homage to Porter’s painting entitled Autumn Landscape with grasses and flowers offering different textures and colors that inhabit the landscape in this painting.

Through August 20, every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am-1:30pm (with a lunch break), learn about the garden from an Urban Roots docent! The teen docents will be situated around the space to share about Charles Ethan Porter, the plants, and more.

Opens July 28 and runs through October 17. This is an outdoor exhibit and the end date is weather dependent.
