Virtual Field Trip for Homeschool Families: Plant Reproduction

April 13, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 10:45 am

Register

How do plants make new plants? It’s not just by producing seeds! Investigate spore patterns in the Fern Room, pups in the Palm House, and rhizomes in the Aroid House. Find out how and why plants have developed different ways of reproducing. This virtual field trip is appropriate for families with students in 5th-12th grade.

Virtual field trips include an orientation based on the chosen science topic, a guided, interactive, theme-focused tour throughout the collection with a Conservatory educator, the opportunity for questions and answers throughout, access to printable copies of select resources, and the opportunity to deepen student learning across subject areas in one of Chicago’s most beautiful institutions.

Field trips are 45 minutes long and are led by a live educator at the Conservatory. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Tickets are $5 and only one ticket per household/screen is needed. Registration closes at 10:00am when the program begins. Automated live captioning is available.

This project was made in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Additional funding provided by PNC, the Seabury Foundation, and the Dr. Scholl Foundation.
