Virtual One Earth Film Festival Screening – UseLess: A Documentary About Food & Fashion Waste
October 25, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
One Earth Film Festival returns to Garfield Park Conservatory with a virtual, full-length feature film with a panel discussion to follow.
FILM DESCRIPTION: In the documentary “UseLess,” the filmmakers try to find out why food and fashion waste has become a pressing social and environmental problem, and what we can do to change it. The documentary is seen through the eyes of a young Icelandic mother who is trying to understand the issues and change her ways. Interviews with experts, designers, activists, and producers shed light on the problem as well as offer many solutions to the audience.
After the film there will be a Q&A with the film’s director, Rakel Garðarsdóttir, and a panel discussion. Panelists include:
Eleanor Ray – Executive Director & Founder of The WasteShed
Annamaria León – Co-Owner of Homan Grown L3C and Co-Founder of Permaculture Chicago Teaching Institute
Jonathan Scheffel – Founder of Healthy Soil Compost, LLC
Teens and young adults encouraged to attend. “PG-13” May contain heavy themes, graphic images or language. Zoom link will be sent prior to the event.
