Join WTTW on Saturday, April 13 at 1:00 pm at the Garfield Park Conservatory for an in-person WILD HOPE series event. WILD HOPE is a collection of short films highlighting the intrepid changemakers who are working to restore and protect our planet.

Each half-hour episode inspires audiences with stories of bold interventions, unexpected alliances, and nature’s resilience. This event will feature episode 4: Does Nature Have Rights? Ecuador is one of the most biodiverse places on the planet, yet its wild spaces are also among the most threatened. In 2008, the country became the first nation in the world to enshrine the “rights of nature” in its constitution—granting wild species their own legal rights to exist. Today, conservationists are putting that powerful tool to the test as they battle to save the country’s biodiversity.

WTTW Reporter Patty Wetli will moderate a lively conversation featuring Amy Doll, director of Friends of Illinois Nature Preserves; Judy Pollock, president of Chicago Bird Alliance, and Edward Warden, Community Stewardship Program Manager, The Nature Conservancy. Learn about local environmental initiatives and steps you can take to become a changemaker.

ASL Interpretation will be available at this screening. If you have any additional accommodation needs, please reach out to us at access@garfieldpark.org.
