Indigo Vat Dyeing Workshop

Join us in person at Garfield Park Conservatory to learn how to design and dye a cotton bandana in an indigo vat!
In this class you will learn:
- The basics of dyeing cotton and other cellulose (plant-based) fibers in a fructose indigo vat
- How to prepare cellulose fibers for indigo dyeing
- Simple resist design techniques
- How to care for naturally dyed fabrics
During this workshop instructor Kristin Field will guide participants through designing and indigo dyeing a cotton bandana to take home. Kristin has been working with and studying natural dyes for over 4 years and is the Adult Experiential Learning Manager with the Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance.
Part of this class will take place outside. In case the class needs to be rescheduled due to bad weather, the rain date for the class will be Wednesday, September 21st from 5:30pm-8:00pm.
