Interdisciplinary artist Avery R. Young, along with his soul/funk band de deacon board, present one of a series of sound-monuments dedicated to the West Side communities where uprisings happened at news of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Inspired by home films of the riots from west Madison St., the performance will merge history, music and the spaces where we are the author and practitioners of both our culture and joy. Church and jook-joint at the same time blk!
