Family Programs presents: Creating Color, a family friendly workshop

August 1, 2026 | 9:30am-12:30pm

Creating Color: Discovering Pigments in the World Around Us
Join Artist and educator Nikki Woloshyn (makerspace arts)  alongside our Nature Educators as we explore the process of growing, harvesting and creating color in the world around us. Natural pigments have been used across the world for centuries to add vibrancy to our world. Artists will discover how these plants and practices are deeply rooted in tradition and meaning. They will experiment with a variety of natural dyes, and have the opportunity to create a mixed media artwork through process-based printmaking, collage and drawing.
Workshop highlights:
Read aloud
Artist Garden tour
Collaborative art making
Chalk drawing made from natural pigments
this workshop is suitable for children 5 and up
