Garfield Park Conservatory & Gardens’ Music Under Glass summer concert series returns with an exciting lineup of three phenomenal West Side artists!
Starting off the series is The Alexander McLean Project.
Dee Alexander, is the ensemble’s vocalist, co-leader and a westside native. She has been a prominent member of Chicago’s arts scene for the last four decades. Ms. Alexander has recorded and toured extensively in both leadership and collaborative roles.
John McLean, co-leader, has a long-standing relationship with Chicago’s creative music scene. Mr. McLean has participated in over sixty recordings as both sideman and leader. He has toured worldwide in a variety of ensembles.
The goal of the Alexander/McLean Project is to delve deeply and creatively into the art of songwriting. Examining how it related to and intersects with the world of jazz improvisation.
The Great American Songbook inspires this project. But the goal is to build on that tradition with original music that reflects the community today and shares love, hope, and happiness with everyone.
